PURE EFFICIENCY

Forward-thinking design pushes performance further

From the drawing-board, the new Peugeot 308 was intended to combine environmental performance with a superior driving experience. The weight of the new Peugeot 308 has been significantly reduced, to achieve top performances in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, while ensuring superior driveability. To mass-reduce by 140 kg compared with the previous version of the 308, unnecessary weight has been cast off at all levels. The vehicle is more compact, it's aerodynamic and both materials and equipment are lightweight.

An aerodynamic silhouette, the use of innovative lightweight materials and electric power steering combine to reduce CO₂ emissions with versions from 82 g/km of CO₂.

PureTech

The 1,2L PureTech 130 S&S new Peugeot 308i is equipped with the new PureTech three-cyliner petrol-fueled turbo engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed automatic EAT6i (Efficient Automatic Transmission 6).

Moteurs BlueHDi

The new Peugeot 308 features exciting new technology, including BlueHDi, the name given to the Euro 6 diesel engines. Thanks to the exclusive combination of a SCRi and FAPi system, the BlueHDi technology drastically reduces (by more than 90%) the NOx emissions, curbs CO₂ emissions, and virtually eliminates particulates (99.9 %).

EAT6 GEARBOX

New automatic 6-speed transmission EAT6 (Efficient Automatic Transmission 6) with Quickshift technology changes gears faster and more smoothly for superior driveability.

Designed to drastically reduce CO₂ emissions, this version is ideally positioned from both consumer and comfort standpoints, with the emissions gap between manual gearbox and automatic transmission now reduced to 5 g/km (iso mounted tires).

Associated with the 2.0 litre BlueHDi 150 engine, this transmission will be available in 2014 on the 1,2L PureTech 130 S&S engine.

RECORD-BREAKING FUEL EFFICIENCY

The new Peugeot 308, recently voted European Car of the Year 2014, completes its range with the new PureTech 130 hp petrol turbo engine. A standard saloon car version just set a new record for fuel efficiency: 2.85 litres / 100 km and 1,810 kilometres covered with a single tank!

This remarkable performance was achieved on the Almeria race track in Spain under the watchful eyes of the French authorities (UTAC, Cycle, Motorcycle and Automobile Technical Union). A strictly standard version of the new Peugeot 308 saloon car equipped with a new PureTech three-cylinder petrol-fuelled turbo engine and a six-point manual gearbox ran for more than 32 hoursi and only consumed 51.4 litres of fuel, thus setting a new record for fuel economy and distance covered on a single tank.

A sporty saloon car, the new Peugeot 308 instantly responds to the driver's slightest request. To the delight of dynamic driving fans everywhere, the Driver Sport Pack is now available as an option.

By simply pushing the "Sport" button on the central console, the driver can activate this system, changing certain parametres to boost the thrill of driving: steering and accelerating become more responsive, the sound of the engine is amplified and more sporty, the display panel shifts from white to red lights and reveals dynamic driving information such as power, overdrive pressure, forward and sideward acceleration.

ELECTRIC POWER STEERING

By replacing the electro-hydraulic variable assist steering with electric power steering, the new Peugeot 308 further reduces CO₂ emissions.

Another advantage is that the electric power steering enables excellent handling for inner-city manoeuvres.

HANDSFREE IGNITION ASSISTANCE

As a replacement for the traditional key, electronic recognition allows you to unlock the doors, start and stop the engine just by pressing a Start/Stop button. Simply moving this against one of the front handles locks the vehicle doors (after first ensuring that there are no passengers in the vehicle).

HILL ASSIST & ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE

The Hill Assist function, which facilitates reignition and hill manoeuvres, is standard equipment for the Active version of the new Peugeot 308. This unique technology immobilises the vehicle for a short period (about 2 seconds), allowing the driver to move from the brake to the accelerator.

An electric parking brake, which is activated automatically when the engine stops and deactivated when the engine restarts, is standard equipment for the Allure and Feline versions.

ARCHITECTURAL EFFICIENCY

Thanks to its compactness, the new Peugeot 308 is lighter. With dimension savings of 47 mm (height), 23 mm (length) and 10 mm (width), it is lighter than its predecessor. Laser welding also helps to educe the weight. Finally, 70 kg is saved thanks to the use of the Group's all-new EMP2 platform.

EQUIPMENT EFFICIENCY

The equipment is designed to help reduce overall vehicle weight. The new running gear is much lighter thanks to a hollow anti-roll bar and the use of aluminium components.

Even the braking system, designed in keeping with the reduced weight of the vehicle, helps to reduce the weight of the car.
