One of PEUGEOT's primary concerns as a car manufacturer is its commitment to environmental conservation, which for us goes hand in hand with driving enjoyment. The PEUGEOT engineers and designers have risen to the challenge, coming up with a whole range.

The family of 3-cylinder PureTech Peugeot petrol engines is a distillation of efficiency and cutting-edge technology. Voted Engine of the Year in its category in 2015 and 2016, this family equips the entire Peugeot range from the 108 to the 5008.

The creator of the most efficient system on the market in terms of reducing polluting emissions, Peugeot has confirmed its leadership in environmental efficiency. BlueHDi is the name given to Peugeot Euro 6 Diesel engines that combine high performance with limited emissions.

The EAT6i gearbox is a 6-speed automatic gearbox, optimising consumption and driving sensations. It has been designed to drastically reduce carbon emissions while offering a high quality of driving.

With the Stop & Start function i, available on petrol engine and diesel engines, combine ecological performance with enjoyable driving!

Adapted to urban driving, the Stop & Start function automatically switches off the engine every time the car stops, for example when waiting at a red light or at a road junction. When the driver wants to continue their journey, restarting is performed instantly and smoothly.

This technology has several advantages: greater control over consumption (- 15% in dense urban traffic, compared to a conventional vehicle), a reduction in carbon emissions (zero emissions during engine cut-out phases) and silence when not moving.

In order to suit all driving modes, the Stop & Start function can be deactivated.

The EMP2 platform i has a modular construction i central to the design and manufacture of the new mid-range and high-end models of the PSA Group which in particular provides:

  • A modular architecture to meet the specific requirements of the main world markets (4- and 5-door saloons, estates, monospaces, notchbacks, SUVs, convertibles and coupés)
  • A diversity of engines and gearboxes on a single platform (4-cylinder, hybrid, 4 wheel drive, etc.)
  • A lightening of the cars and a reduction in carbon emissions while improving rigidity, security and driving pleasure thanks to its innovative lightweight materials like steel, composite materials, aluminium for ground links and cutting-edge processes (such as hot stamping and laser welding)
  • Innovative technological choices optimising steering pleasure, handling, interior comfort and safety (composite floor, ultra-low rolling resistance tyres, etc.)
  • More freedom of style (large wheels, variability of wheelbases, low bonnet and low driving position, etc.) regardless of the silhouette (SUV, saloon, etc.)

Launched for the Peugeot 308 in 2013, the EMP2 platform has been used to produce the new Peugeot SUV 3008 and 5008 and the new Traveller and Expert.

PEUGEOT is the only brand in the world to market an entire sustainable mobility range:

  • Peugeot iOn urban saloon
  • Peugeot Partner Tepee Electric leisure activity vehicle
  • Peugeot Partner Electric van
  • Peugeot GenZe (zero emissions generation) electric scooteri
  • range of electric bikes for all uses (town, hybrid or mountain bike), including the 2017 eF01 innovationsi and the Eu01s i
  • Peugeot electrically-assisted e-Kick scooter i

e-Kick and eF01 are two complementary mobility solutions to easily cover the last few kilometres once the car is parked. A docking station allows you to store them in the luggage compartment of any vehicle equipped with a 12V socket like the Partner Tepee i, new Partner Tepee Electric i, 308 i, 308 SW i, new 3008 i, new 5008 i, 508 SW i and 508 RXH i and recharge them as soon as the vehicle is running. They can also be recharged at home via a standard power socket.

In line with its commitments to reduce the environmental impact of its vehicles at their end of life, the PSA Group is collaborating with the SNAM i, the leading European company for collecting and recycling power batteries. The agreement signed in late 2015, as part of the partnership forged with SNAM since 2012 in France, guarantees the quality of the processes used for collecting and recycling batteries from the Group’s vehicles, both electric and hybrid, at the end of their life, over the entire sales network and its production sites in Europe.

SNAM achieves a performance of 70% efficiency of recycled weight for Li-ion batteries for electric vehicles and 84% for Ni-MH batteries for hybrid vehicles. These levels are significantly higher than the thresholds of the European regulation which imposes a 50% materials recycling rate.
